Original report

The FDA approved once-daily Wegovy (semaglutide) tablets on December 22, 2025, according to the manufacturer’s announcement. The oral product contains the same active peptide ingredient as injectable semaglutide products but is a distinct formulation with its own FDA-approved label and instructions. FDA approval is for specified weight-management uses in adults. The approved indication, patient criteria, warnings and administration instructions are set out in the product label. This update should not be read as approval of every semaglutide product, online formulation, or compounded copy.

What is new

The approval introduced an oral tablet form of semaglutide for the labeled population. Oral and injectable versions are not interchangeable milligram for milligram. The manufacturer’s labeling describes tablet-specific use and absorption requirements. Anyone prescribed the medicine should follow their clinician’s direction and the official patient information.

What to check before comparing prices

Price depends on the strength, pharmacy, coverage and eligibility for manufacturer programs. PeptideC’s price page separates the manufacturer’s listed self-pay offers from insurance copays and list prices, and links directly to the live terms. A displayed offer is not a guarantee of the amount a particular person will pay. Semaglutide is a peptide medicine, but online “research” semaglutide or an unapproved compounded product is not the same as an FDA-approved Wegovy prescription. FDA has separately warned about risks with unapproved GLP-1 products.
